Special Tartan Exhibit on Ellis Island

Every year for the past ten years, the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, in conjunction with the Clan Currie Society, has put on a weekend-long special exhibit for Tartan Day (April 6).

Exhibits on Ellis Island over the past decade have focused on Scottish immigration to the US, Scottish film, crafts, music, history, and other aspects of Scottish culture.

This year, appropriately enough, the focus of the exhibit will be on tartan itself as an important cultural icon of Scotland.

You can learn more about the special program, "A Celebration of Tartan," by visiting the official Tartan Day on Ellis Island site, here.

The exhibit will be open from April 1-3, and is free to the public. I will be there all three days, with information about the Scottish Tartans Museum. I am greatly looking forward to it. If you are one of the 30,000+ visitors who are expected to come through the exhibit each day, please come and say hi!
